Are you using a second drive for your session? We'll need to have a look at your computer spec for a better assessment. Best to read through this and post us a Sandra report.

Hey, thanks Shane,
I did a Sandra report for my humble t500 laptop. PT seems to load ok, its just when I try to create a document or when it tries to do to the quick start screen I get the error.

Thanks for the Sandra report. You'll need to do all these W8 optimizations if you haven't already. A secondary hard drive with supported requirements for recording and playback of audio in Pro Tools is a must. What are you using for your I/O hardware?

Try this specifically to gain access:

1. Right click on Pro Tools shortcut on desktop or locate program .exe file.

2. Choose Properties and tick the box that says: "Run as Administrator" and apply.

3. Click the box that says "Change settings for all users".

4. And also click "Run as Administrator" and apply.

Note: It's also important to follow the instructions in the Windows optimizations to disable user account control.

I had this problem when I first installed PT 11 also and it solved the problem. If not, restart your computer. And try again.

Also, after a new install, all the PT files may be in the process of being scanned by anti-virus software. It's a good idea to disable real-time scanning when working on a session and then turn it back on when your machine is idle. That way it can categorize PT files a safe.

I was getting access errors when I first started using PT 11.3.1. then I made sure I did steps 3 & 4 in addition to 1 & 2.

Plus my scan was able to complete. No errors since.

Thanks for the input,
I solved it. It was the Asio driver. I'm running this on my PC laptop, just for doing little edit jobs and bits and pieces 'on the road.' I have a Mac and HDX system in the studio. I use asio4all to run PT on the windows laptop and once I updated to the new version of asio4all it worked.

Thanks for the update. Good to hear you have it up and running.
