Synch X benefits without HDX
Are there any benefits of owning a synch X without having HDX? I'm still at a bit of a loss of why Avid is still creating new products that a tied to a decade + older technology. I had HDX2 but bought a new Mac Studio Ultra and after much testing with my older Mac Pro Intel with HDX2 and my new Mac Studio Ultra with and without HDX2 I sold my cards. They offer nothing regarding CPU power and in a way seem to hold the Mac back if ProTools is using the HDX engine. So in order to get a modern feature like frame edge synch I need to tie my new more powerful computer to this old technology. Can someone explain to me what is the purpose of making this box if you need HDX to use it to its full advantage. And really, is there any benefit to using it while working with video for someone like me who works alone in his own room?

Re: Synch X benefits without HDX
Yes, SYNX X has significant value when used to resolve the sample clock of Pro Tools audio peripherals to a frame edge reference. Without an HDX system, SYNC X is a stand-alone Master Clock, Word Clock Distributor, HD Video Reference Generator, and SMPTE timecode generator.

For many of us the Frame Edge Sync is a MUST. We urgently need a solution for maintaining it without using any cards. The MTRX 2 and MTRX Studio have now an optional USB c card, so it should be easy to connect it to the serial port on the Sync HD. Or Avid has a different solution?

Re: Synch X benefits without HDX
I wish they did. It's really silly. On another note with the Sync X I have a question about the atomic clock input. If you clock the Sync X to an atomic clock does that just affect the word clock output of the sync x or does that affect the vid ref out in some fashion also?
