The mini DigiLink connector attached to a DigiLink port is capable of passing 32 channels at all sample rates.

For HD Omni, make sure you connect it as the primary interface attached to the 1st port of your engine card. You can then attach a single HD IO to the expansion port of the HD Omni, and up to 2 additional HD IO's to the 2nd port of your engine card.

best,

Jeff

How would be the recommended way to connect cables for sync? Before we got MTRX studio, the two HD I/O-s were synced via loopback but how should the MTRX studio be added to the loop? Do I need to put the three units into the loop or does the MTRX provide clock via digilink?

Thanks!

You can simply set the MTRX Studio to Loop Sync, after expanding your existing HD IO Loop to include MTRX Studio. In DADman to to Conf > Sync > Sync source > Loop Sync.

Thanks!

Can the master also be the MTRX Studio or it does not matter until the syncing is done properly? Does the MTRX Studio and HD I/O have the same quality clock?

Another valid option would be to set the Sync source in DADman to Internal and use the MTRX Studio as the primary device to send Word Clock to your HD IO interfaces. I would encourage you to compare the two options, however I don't believe you will be able to perceive a difference in quality.

best,

Jeff

Hi Jeff and thank you again for the reply!

Why I asked my previous question is the fact that I get crackling and heavily distorted sound when I try to record via HD I/O. I thought that it might be the clock issue but tried diffrent clock sync setups. Sync loop, WC but no luck.

I think it has something to do with HDX cards or the order of devices. I tried diffrent connection setups.

I currently have the following setup:

MTRX Studio port 1 is connected to the first HDX port 1. Second HDX is connected to the HD I/O (nr1) primary port and HD I/O (nr2) is connected to the expansion port of HD I/O nr1.

I also tried this version: Yes, the recommended way to deploy would be to fully hook up 64 channels (2x 32 channels of DigiLink) from MTRX Studio for example to HDX Card 1, then to hook the 2 HD IO units to HDX Card 2.

Im using Sonnet Echo TB3 chassis.

Should I try with only one HDX card for a start?

all the best!

Please send us some more details on your recording setup so we can help troubleshoot:
Computer / Specs
macOS Version
Pro Tools version
Which exact TB3 Chassis

Have you run DigiTest on the HDX cards or has everything been tested and QC'd prior to adding the MTRX Studio?

You can also PM me directly if that's more expedient.

best,

Jeff
