Unfortunately, JL Cooper CS 10 support stops at PT 8.0.3 (possibly 8.0.4) . . . I personally have vowed not to update anymore. I spoke to a tech guy at digi and it doesn't seem like they are trying to even support it, sad to say it only takes about 30 minutes to tweak the code . . . .

I believe that they are now trying to get everyone who wants midi controllers to get a euphonix or digi's control . . . .

It's a shame . . . cause I have a JL Cooper CS-10 with 32 faders, but I'm happy with staying at PT 8.0.3

Didn't they stop building those back in 1957 ?

Anyways ... I think it may take a while longer then 30 minutes to adapt the code let alone go through weeks of testing to see wether you actually broke something while introducing that extra bit of code but anyhow ...

It's interesting to see what people sometimes base their upgrade decisions on. Nothing wrong with that ... on the contrary but I do find it interesting to see you would base the decision to stick to a particular version of the software and everything around that, probably including computer, OS and whichever 3rd party software you are running based on the fact wether an old controller is working with a nearly obsolete protocol from the 80's (at least as far as pure control protocol is concerned) that never actually was reliable or accurate in the first place.

any device capable of sending MCC's ... continuous midi commands can be set up to control pro tools over midi to some degree. Most definitely those include 'simple' control things like transport. assign the right CC to a key or a button and have PT respond to it ... but that isn't anything new.

As far as more extended controls go the controller itself would have to support one of the supported midi control protocols (HUI / C-8 / motormix ... )

yes my thoughts exactly Chris, my X-Station can do MCC but how do i know what to set it to is their a midi implementation chart available for PT 10 that tells you the paramaters you need to set on the controller for transport and mixer , i have been looking for one so i can know the parameters to program into the xstation but i cant find one anywhere

Even if his template was sending the correct MCC's, wouldn't Pro Tools need to detect that a supported controller was connected in order for Pro Tools to respond? For example, the JL Cooper CS-10....

Hi Phylex,

There's no mystery around this topic imo. CS10 hasn't been on the supported controllers list since Pro Tools 6.x.
Avid used to provide the old personality files for these on the installed CD in a folder called 'unsupported software'

Even back in those days we were pretty clear about the fact that the CS-10 was not officially supported anymore.
