Maximum DVI Cable Length?

Hi, has anybody experienced any problems with three to five meter dvi cable lengths (10ft to 15ft?)

I use the Drbott dvi extenders on 2 samsung 191T's from a Nvidia Ti card.
(aprox 14' no problems.
For the keyboard a standard usb extender works. I tried an "active" usb cable without success.

We use 7 metre DVI extension cables (common-or-garden variety) between our Radeon 9000 PRO and two Belinea 190110 flat panels. One monitor gets its DVI via an ADC to DVI converter and the extensions connect to proper male/female DVI connector cables. So it's like just under 9 metres per DVI line.
The display is crystal clear, crisp and true, the Belineas are TOPS. Just had to get rid of the Radeon's extensions and now we use only the MacOS9.2.2 ATI set.

My experience is that 7 meters is on the edge, it works with some cables not with others.

www.gefen.com delivers expensive but working kits to extend the reach.

I'm using two boxes to run to 20" apple LCDs of a ATI 9000.

its the same thing gefen sells for much cheaper I have 2 of these and they rock.
Mine are 33 feet each and have absolutly NO loss in signal quality AT ALL ( fibre optic )
and if you need ADC then just go get the Apple ADC/DVI box . Its made by Apple so its a no brainer

Some video cards have problems with the long cables, others do not. It is apparently a known issue, as some earlier cable drivers did not handle longer lengths very well. I have one machine that has trouble. The extended cinema display has a lot of "noise" in some colors, particularly blacks, while other colors look good. There are occassional sync glitches as well. I use it that way anyhow. The extender is 10 feet, and with the monitor cable the total is about 16 feet (if I remember correctly).

Has anyone used the "active" ADC extender either from Gefen or Dr. Bott? My 10 ft passive one has never worked right with my Cinema display.

I second 'the dude'. I've used the Pacific Custom Cables and they rock for the really long setups under studio floors, from machine rooms, etc. I've got a 66' and a 33', coming from a ATI Radeon 9500 and there have been no problems. Expensive, but less than the Gefen boxes. They're fibre optic, so they can really cover the distance...
