Default An 8.0.4 full installer request.

Hi DTS, I see that you're around lately so,

I believe it would be well received if a full installer for PT8.0.4 were made available in our accounts as was done with 8.0.3. You have been a proponent of fresh installs under certain circumstances and this would surely help simplify installations for those who might choose to go this direction as well reduce confusion for new users.

+1 billion!! This current "upgrade" is overly complicated for the average users, as evident by the issues being posted.

Speaking of installers, the PT installer on PC needs a major overhaul big time. In PT 5.0.1, it was a simple double click to install and done. It has now evolved into quite a convoluted and complex mess with messages and dialogs all over the place that shouldn't even be there. It makes for a bad user experience right out of the gates, with a big margin of error during the install process. Time for a simplified revamp that it once was.

I bet we could cut these complaints in half with a less complicated full intsaller.

NO NO NO Leave the installer alone... it is the only thing that works
If the backward DIVA makes it a one-click wonder, I bet mine would come up with a buffer error!

+1....I believe since I have the 8.0 upgrade, I would have to install 7.x, then upgrade to 8.0, then do the latest installer.

This is just what I THINK I need to do. One stop shop for installer would be great.

I agree.

Download the full installer. Uninstall anything related PT. Do a clean install 8.0.4 and smile.

Just a note. The MAudio installer I used a while back seemed to only generate about half the pop up messages during the install and seemed a whole lot smoother. They definitely should look into overhauling the installer. With a simplified number of platforms perhaps that will be easier to implement.

Note two.....streamlining the number of supported OS's was a good idea and suggested by many here. Its good to see that implemented. A nod to those who fought and argued for it and a to those that listened.

Nope, if you have any version of PT8 already installed you are good to go.

If you have PT7.x then you will need to uninstall that anyway before installing PT8.

If you have PT8, the easiest way would be to download the 8.0.3 full installer in you Avid.com account. Install it without turning on your interface. Then install 8.0.4 and follow the on screen instructions.

8.0.4 is a SUPER easy upgrade if you already have been running 8.0.3 with Windows 7. Just uninstall the 8.0.4b drivers, and load up 8.0.4, takes around 5 minutes and your back to work.

Just read the instructions first, very easy to follow. The update is nice because its only 784MB to download vs a full download that would be around 4GB's.

8.0.4 full installer would be helpful for people who dont already have PT8 on their PC's. And if its anything like 8.0.3, 8.0.4 Full should show up in a couple weeks to a month in your Avid account.
