And don't be afraid to try stuff. I once was told that you need to know how each bit of virtual gear like EQ's and compressors work and one way is to try things, turn knobs, and even see how bad the effect can make a track sound!

I still do that with my actual hardware - !!! I was testing mic's yesterday - that's half of the battle with gear

That and reading the manual

Reading the manual is not considered "cool".

Your Computer should respond no problems. You gotta no what it will take and what it won't take. I'm on the end of watching it. There are other people here who just smile☺️

Like a new car. You got to take it out around a couple corners. Don't forget the quarter mile😝

Don't click too much. I've found out over the years it doesn't like to much clicking. Be sure.

Aaahhh hell. Just click😁

I love clicking, but what I like even more is pushing.. once you get used to clicking start pushing... yep. push that button.. that fader.. turn that knob.. well that's not pushing but it's still part. PT is so fun when you have come close to master it.. cause well there's never a thing close to mastering something.. in anycase .. it's so fun when you're past the clicking phase and now learning to use it with a console/controller.

I can sympathise with the original post. I think other DAWs are more obviously music oriented eg Cubase,Reason whereas PT is a more generalised professional audio editor which makes it less intuitive to learn for a musician.
Another one to consider is Mixcraft, its dirt cheap and comes with thousands of downloadable loops which are arranged in sets so u can put a song together just by dragging and dropping. You can even save the loops out to yr hard drive and import them into PT but they may need converting.

You know I got slammed recently for telling someone, who was asking for advice on how to learn Pro Tools, to read the manual. I know these days there are quite a few resources like Youtube to get tips on workflow and other preferences, but what the heck is wrong with picking up the official documentation and reading? At the risk of sounding dated, the manual was all I had in 1994 when I moved from tape and it helped me build my own personal understanding. All I'm saying is don't forget to include the manual in your arsenal of learning tools.
