Default General HDN question

Considering joint the crowd here soon w the native card and 16x16.

My question is long and drawn out as follows:

If I go this route I will be selling my previous system to recoupe costs.
Fireface 800 and lynx aurora 8
This system is and has been flawless for me!
This is where my fear lies.

Do you most of you feel it is solid enough to trust this as the primary and only system w 10.2??

Any concerning issues w midi?? Will have to get a new midi interface though as well. Possibly a axiom 49 and route my Roland td-10 through it.

I am running a gigabyte ex58a-ud3r i7 920 now. System has been running great for over 2 years now.

A bit nervous for obvious reasons. Things sound more solid at this point on it w 10.2 though.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.....On the one hand...if it ain't broke.....
but on the other hand, the same thought process is going on here. Unless you have a specific need that you can't satisfy with the old rig, I would be reluctant to mess with it. In my case, I need to expand my IO capabilities a bit(the ff800 is on my radar, but a MOTU 828 mk3 will do the job for less than half the $$). Tough call

I am very happy with my setup, but I am still on 10.0.
Apart from the occasional crash of PT, especially after opening several sessions one after the other (I guess PT has still the problem to release Ram), it has been solid.

I don't think there should be any problem as I understand you just want to get a new hardware interface, and an Avid interface should always work well with PT.
Moreover you will feel the advantages of the native card!!!

I have the Axiom 49 and it works without any issue, as well.

Unfortunately I didn't spend as much time as I wanted with my music due to some health issues.

But as Albee said, if it ain't broke....and you are happy with it...

There could be a cheap used ff800 coming up soon
Seriously.....

Interested in the newer mix engine and nicer converters. I am in a spot I could move to it and just be done on the converter front for awhile. Going over the upsides of it all, I think it has an amazing possibility to make me happy but All this native lingo is confusing!!!

I have a lynx and could get a card for it, but still need more I/o so might as well get the nicer avid converter and let go of the lynx.

If I am not mistaken, I should be able to plug my Roland e-kit into the axiom and it will allow me to access the midi from it it Pt.

I thought the ram issues were resolved?? It's always something!!!

You will do fine with the any of the Axioms and your Roland kit, as they work great as midi to usb interfaces, besides being great controllers.

I GUESS it is still the old Ram issue; especially when I use Strike, after opening several sessions....crash.

But usually I work on one session, so it is fine.

Probably, when they code it right, in a 64bit PT that won't be an issue anymore.

These memory leaks have been with us for a while now. If sessions are large or complex a PT restart helps a lot.

I use a great utility app to empty and monitor RAM:

RAMMap

It's saved me from a few reboots.
