Unhappy Pro Tools 9.0.1 - Windows 7 - Mbox2 Mini

Hello,
New to this forum, ever since I've had Pro Tools 9, it's been a pain.
- Install took AGES (not too bothered about that)
- I click to launch Pro Tools, it takes up to 10 minutes to boot
--- That's the only problem so far, as I haven't had time to play with it.

Now the second issue...
When I use my Mbox2 Mini to record with Adobe Audition 3.0, after getting to the 6th track with FX, it starts to get laggy, even with latency set at 4092 WTF?
(Only reason for using Adobe Audition 3.0 is because Pro Tools takes so long to boot)
The same issue on a different program, when I produce on FL Studio 9... This I consider to be REALLY bad... I add two instances of IK Philharmonik, 1 playing a 2 bar string stacatto loop, the other playing a 2 bar string loop... I get clicking and latency issues, right up to 4092 on the latency, AGAIN!
---

I never had ANY problems when I was recording and producing with a Behringer Xenyx 1204FX and UCA200 (which is not even a dedicated audio interface)... Either the Mbox2 Mini SUCKS, or there is something not right going on with my system...

Any help would be good...

Here is my Sandra report...

Well I can tell you that the mbox 2 mini DOES suck (know from experience), and also pro tools 9 is a buggy piece of crap (again, experience.)

Very disappointed as I thought Avid had finally got things sorted with PT9, alas - I bought into their marketing hype once again

Ah I see, so I've gone and sold my old equipment hoping this would be much better, because y'know, Avid are meant to be "industry standard" - What a joke, I can't even produce a full track and BTW I rap, so there's not even that much going on? LOL... I hope they at least fix Pro Tools, seriously, how can they be classed as the industry standard when it takes up to 10 minutes to boot into an empty session!

Thanks for the respose, I think I will just go and buy a Focusrite Saffire 6 USB and see if that helps me! **When I can afford one, after spending so much on the useless rubbish**

Your two RAM sticks are different with different timings!
Possible source of trouble!

Check the driver version of your Mbox.
or
try ASIO4ALL, some people had success with it.

Concerning the load time:
PT takes some time booting for the first time, when it scans for the plugz, but after that, any other time it should boot much quicker, unless you delete Prefs and Databases..

I thought it could've been my RAM but as I've had no problem with Audio recording/editting before I had the Mbox 2 Mini, I can't see how the RAM would affect it? or it that me being stupid?

ASIO4ALL: I have the same issues as I do with the DigiDesign driver.
Load Time: It's everytime I load PT9, although the first boot was significantly longer than the boot time now... I've heard that putting PT on the system drive speeds up boot times? Is this correct?

In my bios, my RAM timings are now set to Auto, would this not put both sticks of RAM at the lowest settings of the two, and make them equal?

Thanks for the response, I appreciate it :)

There are timings discrepancies between your RAM sticks Micron - Corsair .
I your BIOS you can only set the timings in general!

PT has to be on the system drive for optimum performance!

Moreover did you do the optimizations mentioned here:

Default Re: Pro Tools 9.0.1 - Windows 7 - Mbox2 Mini

I´m having very odd problems with Win7 64bit, Mbox2 mini and standalone-ASIO mode....

I cant use it in Ableton!!! I can select the ASIO-Driver, but no sound-ouput!! it also slows down my pc!
if i go to device-setup, i came to "digidesign asio control panel" or something, where i can change my sample-buffer rate!!

i tried to find the executable to this little control panel, and maybe it works when i try to start it always with administrator-rights, but i cant locate it!!

any solutions on this, or is it impossible to get the mbox2 mini to work on win7 64bit with the current asio-drivers from digidesign???

HELP, i want to play at a gig today and cant get this damn thing to work.....

BTW, i can use it in MME/DirectX mode....latency is higher, but it plays...do you think i can make a liveset in that mode, or do i have to be scared that ableton/mbox2mini/pc crashes?!?!

dRead, I recommend opening a fresh thread for your problems and posting a Sandra report.

Moreover there is a variety of possible causes, even installing one application after another one could overwrite some system files that the previous application used, etc...

Try run as admin, and check the version of the device driver.

i've tried everything now, even all of the optimizations, still nothing.
PT9, uninstalled...
Selling my mbox2 mini with PT8, seeing as i don't know how to transfer my iLok2 to another person.

Thanks for trying to help though, I appreciate it.
