Won't Play

Hello,

So for some reason something got changed and I when I press play in the mix window the stop sign automatically starts glowing too and then nothing happens. it says "pause" at the bottom of the screen. anybody know how to fix this? did I just put in some weird preference or something?

What are the details? Version numbers and system and such...

I believe this is a known bug. If I were you I would do a full system restart, trash Databases and Pref folders.

well aware of this. there is a massive thread on the issue already. we're all waiting on Avid to get us a fix.

Don't bother re-installing PT or trashing prefs, etc. It won't help. A temporary fix is to change the H/W buffer engine, click ok, and then change it back to whatever you just had it on. Any shift in the buffer engine box seems to kick Pro Tools back into place. It makes the problem go away for a few minutes. But, it'll be back.

yeah, this has been going on for me since i upgraded to PT9 using X.6 & X.7. another fix is to quit and restart PT, but yes, changing the playback buffer also works, so whichever is faster i guess! 8-) hopefully, the developer team will have this fixed at some point in the near future.

So sometimes I'll try to play back a recording and for some reason the stop button lights up with the play button and then nothing happens. To fix this I just exit pro Tools and open it up again, but does anybody know why this is happening or how I can stop it? Thanks!

It's a known issue with 9.0.5. If you change your hardware buffer to something other than what it currently is... and then back (if you want). PT will start working again (temporarily). We (I assume as a group of users) are hoping to see a fix for this, soon. Soon?

This is fixed in the Pro Tools 9.0.6 Update (see pg 4 of the Read Me).
