Real time streaming out of PT
Hi guys,
I need to do remote mix approvals on a project and instead of having the mix engineer burn mp3s and send them to me for tweaks I'd rather stream out of his Mac (out of PT outs) and listen to the tweaks real time. This will be a way faster way to go. I know you used to be able to do this with Nicecast, but not sure what software is up to the task in the modern era. I know this is probably part of the collaboration feature that is coming soon, but might anyone have any info that I can use on this? Thanks so much!

Re: Real time streaming out of PT
You can set something like this up with most Remote Desktop apps. There are also some good solutions from Source Elements.

Yep, source elements has a plugin that does this.

Re: Real time streaming out of PT
UPDATE TO THE OP... just noticed you were using NiceCast... read my post. IT WORKS!
Source Elements IF YOU WANT TO PAY THAT MUCH!!! I use an app called NiceCast, https://www.rogueamoeba.com/nicecast/ , which costs $60 and turns your ProTools edit station into a WebStreaming device. I do a yearly show for an NYC choreographer and we ALWAYS work on music edits this way. NiceCast produces a link for her to login from iTunes and she listens in realtime while I edit... there's a delay of about 2-seconds, depending on your upload speed. You can change ALL PARAMETERS of the webstream, and even add processing into the final output (i.e. peak limiting plugin) to keep it all together on their end. Works GREAT. You may need a little IT help to setup your router to pass the proper port, but it's usually a very simple process. Good luck... (I usually take an analog out of my interface and feed it into an analog input, having NiceCast look at that input for signal. That's the best way to do it since it won't see the out of your interface any other way)
