Re: Best System for PTLE for under $1000.00
Just got the email from PC Rapids, even though they are still advertising the A7V333-X as in stock, they are definietly out and trying to switch buyers to the alternate (which they sell for $20 less but don't offer the refund.)
Waiting for my A7V333-X which is coming from Holland tomorrow....fingers crossed. |

Re: Best System for PTLE for under $1000.00
Well I just ordered the Asus A7V600 and the XP3000 w/400fsb. Should be here by Friday. Cost about $30 extra, now we just keep our fingers crossed that it works.

Re: Best System for PTLE for under $1000.00
No luck for me either with getting that ASUS board. I went ahead and ordered the A7V333-XL from partspc.com - I called first and was told they had 1 left in stock & that if hurried & placed my order I had a chance at it. Well I got a call back today saying that they'd be more than happy to get me an A7V8X. I was told that someone else must have swiped up the last one right before me. Yeah right. I also went through the same ordeal last week with pcrapids.com - I wish these people would just be straightforward & say they had none. Let us all know about those KT600 boards. It's the last piece I need for my XP3000+ system.

Re: Best System for PTLE for under $1000.00
Hey Allen and my fellow Digi Bros. I have some interesting test results regarding the A7V333-X and the dreaded -9073 error when recording multiple tracks. I also posted a solution that works. It all points to 6.1.

Re: Best System for PTLE for under $1000.00
AK65,
Thanks for the congrats. Hey, let me know how you are digging that matrox when you get it hooked up. I ordered one of those dvi to vga adaptors for my Radeon card and am going to try that multi-monitor route. If it is not good, I'm going to pursue the matrox card. I might be interested in overclocking the asus board if (1) my performance drags during an upcomming big session and/or (2)I can easily find the bios settings.

Re: Best System for PTLE for under $1000.00
markus,
been there done that. I feel your pain, bro. although you've stuck to it a bit longer than I. I only orded from 2 vendors and recieved 2 calls about 3 days after the initial orders letting me know that they were "discontinued" per Asus. I went with the Asus board below and while it is not getting the top notch results of the A7V333-x, it is stable and I'm very pleased. Plus, the Cintrino laptops are too expensive for me to justfy. Right now anyway.

Re: Best System for PTLE for under $1000.00
Hey Guys,
I just got the same call from PartsPC even after I called and was assured they had the board. These companies are very unprofessional. This is my first system I'm building so I'm really not used to this kind of crap. I'm also waiting anxiously for the results on that KT600 board. I'm even thinking of just buying it and taking a chance. I'm tired of having a Digi002 paperweight........... Mike |

Re: Best System for PTLE for under $1000.00
The A7V8X-X is a great board. Very stable. I think you guys can buy that one with confidence. Plus it is cheap. I haven't heard any complaints about the board on the DUC, Allen likes it and I have no complaints about mine either. I build, sell and service PCs for a living so if that means anything to you...well there it is.
Just my 2 cents. Good luck guys! BTW...totally agree about the unprofessionalism. Add BZBoyz to your list of disappointing vendors. They did the same 3 days later callback to me. Funny thing is, it sounded just like the PC Rapids guy!

I just hate to buy the A7V8X-X knowing it has less performance, when the new board MIGHT give some good results. I guess I'm an optimist. Since you're a computer builder maybe you or Allen could answer this question: 1> In the XP2500, A7V333x, PC 2700 DDR Ram system which component is the most restrictive in achieving higher performance? The way things were explained to me, the information must pass through these components and will "bottleneck" at the one least able to pass that information through quickly. Thus restricting the speed to the limit of the slowest component. Is this explanation valid? Mike |
