Wait a minute...I just had my, "I see the light!" moment.

Problem #1...you're using Vista.

I cant help you with Vista trouble shooting. You'll have to do some homework and searching.

Quick question..

Does running PTNuke uninstall something that may have not gotten reinstalled during my regular PT8 install?

And on that topic.. should I uninstall PT, then use PTNuke as well to wipe away anything left behind?

Okay I just uninstalled PT and it looks like Reaper is not crashing when I select ASIO.

Now if I reinstall PT, will it start crashing again? Anyone have any thoughts on that?

Just reinstalled PT 8. Reaper is crashing again when I select ASIO as audio device.

Not sure if this has anything to do with it. But I got this weird error while installing PT. This screenshot is right after reboot.

It mentioned something about Windows Register yada crashing...

I've never known anyone to do this on Vista. Try, "run as admin".

In that case, don't do the "run as admin" step when firing up REAPER and see what happens.

You could also, right click the icon, select properties, then compatibility, and try running it under a different model (xp) I guess that's how I would put it anyway.

FIXED!

http://helpdeskgeek.com/how-to/micro...opped-working/

I was going to apply this fix so my installation did not erect any errors on the reboot for the Pace activity, but then I realized I didn't add Reaper to my DEP list!

I added reaper along with regsvr32.exe... tested Reaper and it doesn't crash on selecting ASIO!

I have yet to test it out further because I'm going to reinstall PT again (hopefully the last time for at least a month!) and run through with no errors.

Thanks everyone for the help, hopefully someone in my situation can benefit from this thread.
