Default Latency Issues on Windows 7

Hi,

I've been using LatencyMon and DCP to check for any problems as I've been getting clicks and pop in my audio.

Currently running Windows 7 x64
Intel i5 4670k
Gigabyte GA Z87X UD4H
8GB of Ram
Focusrite Scarlett 18i8

Buffer size is at 128 samples and I get clicks and pops with my guitar plugged in. I also get them at 256 samples. Surely my rig should be able to handle 64 samples!

I've attached the report from LatencyMon.

I hope someone can help me out, thanks.

Additionally to what albee1952 posted above, make sure you're also using the most current Focusrite drivers:

Apologies for not adding a Sandra report.

I will try the beta Focusrite USB2 driver and see if that helps.

I have also done the Windows 7 optimisations plus disabling any power saving feature in the BIOS.

My first thought with this 6 hard drive system is what kind of PSU are you using? Also, only NVIDIA graphics cards are supported.

On this topic, here is an older thread on how clicks and pops in the audio were caused by inadequate and poor power. Check your power source including the PSU.

Great point re the power supply. 650 watts is the smallest I would use. A single 12V rail should be over 50 amps. I had a socket 1366 i7 that was acting weird and it turned out to be the wimpy PSU.

Here's a photo of my PSU. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/...217_173234.jpg

I'll try disconnecting a few hard drives and see if that helps.

Overclocked my GPU as I also use the computer for gaming. (I know that a separate computer for audio would be ideal, money and all that). I'll disable the overclock and see if that helps.

Any advise to get "clean power"? Don't really know anything about this area.
