Default Key command to open menus

I'm used to holding down Alt for the underscore line to appear under the correct letter to open menus. I don't see this in Pro Tools. Once I have clicked a menu item such as file, I see the underlined letters to type. Does anyone else not have Key commands to open menus, or possibly suggest what I could ave done to get rid of them? I do see them in all other programs. Just not in Pro Tools.

Thanks.

I use alt to access the main file menu all the time and all is fine on my end. Dont press and hold the key. Just press alt and release, then hit the subsequent letters in sequence. The underscored letters reveal themselves after pressing alt. If you want to see the underline always displayed, you have to enable that preference in Windows 7.

Hope that helps.

That's what I need. I'll try that next week. Thanks. It just seems strange that I can never see the underlines in the main menus, just in the sub-menus.

Default Re: Key command to open menus [BUG]

I've followed the instructions, and I now have the underlines all the time. However, I still can't get Alt to select and open the menus. Once the menus are open, the pressing the correct letter selects the correct action.

Edit:
OK, so this is a Pro Tools bug. It works as expected in Nuendo and Sibelius and every other program. Just not in Pro Tools.

Thanks anyway.

OK, I've found where the bug is. If HUI is enabled in Peripherals, the Alt key is disabled for the main menus. If HUI is not enabled, it appears.

Please could someone check this for me.

I'd definitely call this a bug that needs to get logged.

I'm not surprised that the HUI emulation is causing problems. I've been using a Faderport (using the HUI mode) and it crashes PT more often than not. Maybe if the HUI support was improved, it might also fix this issue.

Thanks for taking the time to look into it anyway.
