it does look cool. but still what will be the total cost, around 6k for a complete system just to get ADC and more tracks??? hmmm. Will be nice to see what else they have in store, and see Native in action before I decide to dump LE or keep it.

About three months ago $6500 would have gotten you and HD1 card and 192 IO with your trade in. That's DSP power on top of ProTools HD. This card will NOT run TDM.

Don't say I didn't tell you so.

All legit software thank you very much.

Yes I have a low post count but only because I don't have a lot of problems with my gear.

What exactly did you tell us, in that thread?

Native isn't TDM... you're right. It's quite clear about that, too.

It's not going to replace TDM, it's simply entry level. If you need TDM... you get TDM. Do you realize the userbase for Pro Tools is probably about 90% RTAS and 10% TDM? Most of us are used to it by now, and most TDM plugs also have RTAS versions.

That being said... it's still a far better solution than current HD1 and 2, if you put it in a decently modern computer.

I'm glad it doesn't run TDM. I'd rather invest in outboard gear than Accel cards and TDM plug-ins for my own recording needs.

$3500 for the card brand new. What will the hardware exchange price be? And compare the price of the card + interface to the price of a 003 w/ the full production toolkit package and it starts to look like this step up is priced right about where it needs to be. It's more expensive than LE and less expensive than standard HD.

And if the hardware upgrade path gives me a way to get one for about half of the retail price (that's just a wild guess), I may jump on it and grab a used Apogee or Lynx to go with it. That would be pretty tempting.
