Default Early Christmas for me

All I want for Christmas is a Sonnet Encore/ST G4 1 ghz processor upgrade. And today I ordered it from Provantage for $631.99. ($637.99 with UPS ground shipping) It should get here in 3-5 days. After reading all of the positive posts on CPU performance I'm convinced. The infamous, "Your CPU is running out of power. Increse H/W Buffer Settings" messages has plague me for the last time. I hope I have as positive a story to tell as did Kris and most recently Valve Brother.

Sonnet is good shtuff - I upgraded my G4/400 to a dual 500 a while back and it made a noticable difference.

Before the upgrade- Dave C test was 11 tracks.
After the upgrade- Dave C was 18 tracks

My own unscientific test was- (5) BF 1176, (5) BF LA-2A, (3) Waves TrueVerb (mono).

On a new 32 track session I had- (32) McDsp Compressor Bank CB3, (32) McDsp Filter Bank P6 (eq) with room to spare on my CPU meter.

Installation was simple and fast (less than 10 minutes)

Make sure your firmware is 4.2.8 or the upgrade won't allow your CPU to boot up.

Was it worth upgrading? H#ll yeah!!!!! A definite improvement for my aging G4 with money left over to buy my wife the ring she wants for the Holidays.

Visit Provantage and get it for $631.53.
