10.1.2 Crash when changing Buffer Size
Hi!
For me, Pro Tools 10.1.2 crashes more often then not when changing the buffer size a few times. I see other people are having the same experience so I just wanted to report that after going back to 10.0.1 this no longer happens. It works fine now, so it would seem like a problem with 10.1.2 rather then with my computer. I still get the random GUI-freezes though (as described in this thread), but they were even worse in 10.1.2. so going back seemed to help at bit. Hopefully these things will be addressed soon, until then I'll stay with 10.0.1. (I'm on Windows 7, btw.) / Erik |

Re: 10.1.2 Crash when changing Buffer Size
I have also seen some crashes(running HD10.1.2), but in my case(not sure if this will help anyone else) its more about clicking anything BEFORE Pro Tools has a chance to finish. By that I mean, if I watch the menu bar across the top(File, Edit, View, Track, etc), if some menus are showing, all is fine, but if all the menus are grey'd out, clicking anything will cause a crash(usually a greyish-white screen). If I wait for the menu bar to come back(maybe 5 seconds) all is good. This is true when changing the buffer, or when calling up certain plugins(like Melodyne) that take a lot of horsepower). Next time you change the buffer, after you click OKAY to close that window, try waiting a few seconds for the menu bar to show again. I will see if 10.0.1 is any better here as I am loading a second machine today. Food for thought

Re: 10.1.2 Crash when changing Buffer Size
Hello!
In my case also PT10HD crashed when I've changed buffer size. BUT: Only, if Delay compensation ist turned on (4096). I think it has got something to do with memory management and software instruments. Ivory2 and BFD2 are inserted in this special Session. Maybe also in your cases there are software instruments, which fight with Pro tool's Memory management? Anyway, maybe the update to 10.3 will make a difference... |
