reset the channel strip setup
Hi
after doing lot of live broadcast recording there is the question how to reset the channel strip assignment so that it starts 1-24, 25-48 and so on as a default without changing anything else. Just reseating the channels in order. Thanks for help. Patrick |

Re: reset the channel strip setup
Patrick,
Ok I think my brain is on vacation, are you talking about doing a restore to all mono channels 1-16 sidecar 17-24 on main section? Not sure what your attempting to accomplish? Scott |

Re: reset the channel strip setup

Sorry for my vague description. Manual call it "Move selected strip". We use it for each show in our recording mobile to bring up the most important channels to the first layer 1-24 on the Profile. The PA standard festival setup is here normally 48 channels. With their general mic input list you'll find some important channels on both layers 1-24 and 25-48. Now to organize them in a way for a very fast accessibility while show without switching too much from Layer 1-2, 2-1, 1-2...... we use this function regularly. The problem after the show, soundchecking the next band who starts lets say 1/2 hour later same stage is that we need too much time to sort them back to default 1-24, 25-48. Fantastic would be a shortcut to bring the faders back to their default position so that we can follow the next soundcheck quick enough. Thanks for thinking with us, Patrick |

Re: reset the channel strip setup
Save a defult show file with all the channel names/ plugins / output routing and recall it for each act.
I think that would be the best way as it will undo any of the weiredness you may have done to the previous act. |

Re: reset the channel strip setup
And as long as you keep the plugins the same (nothing new, nothing removed) the show will load pretty quickly because you won't have to go through the DSP shuffle.

Re: reset the channel strip setup
Good ideas, thanks!
there are some disadvantages in recalling a show or snapshot done before. Sometimes the previous show uses the exactly same let's say rhythm section channels, Drums, BS, Perc, means we are able to use the channels immediately for the next show, this saves lot of time. Or all the other used channels like ambiance, FOH, Effects, announcement who are always updated and hopefully improved must be channel saved before recalling a snapshot. Loading a show will overwrite the updated channels. It would be just great to reset the channels to default position in one step. Take the example how Studer Vista 5 is doing it. They work with 6 Input channel layers, each 20 channels. In a normal festival situation the first 3 layers are used for the permanent channel order 1-60 a very quick way to label the new or other used new channels an keep the overview. Layer 4-6 is used to copy paste the channels from the permanent one, into a custom sequence the recording engineer wants. This channel arranging tool is also working while the show is going on, this doesn't work with Venue cause of audio disruption. Patrick |

Re: reset the channel strip setup
Have you watched the webinar Robert did on festival stuff recently. There may be some things in there you could utilize.

No, but I have too as soon as the festival season is done. We are out for almost all season. Just to be sure, there is no function I'm looking for? There are maybe some different working flow, this I'll check. Thanks so far, Patrick |
