$100 -- Audio Technica AT2020
$200 -- Rode NT1A (I don't care what anyone at gearslutz forum says, these rock)
$300 -- Studio Projects C1 (If you have the money, get this one)
After this, there's not really a lot of difference 'til you get to a grand. Then you have all sorts of options. But when you there, you're talking the whole chain -- high-end pre, etc. Then it's all about taste and color. FWIW.

My favorite cheap large diaphragm condenser mics, approximate US dollars:
1) Apex 435 - $75 or less
2) Studio Projects B1 - under $100

I like the SP B1 as much as the C1 - I've got both.

Tele,
I hear you on the B1. I have one as well and you can't beat it for under $75. But I got to tell you, I was dumbfounded by the quality and versatility of the AT2020. It came with my Eureka pre as part of a package deal. And I really couldn't have cared less at the time. But now I got that sucker on so much of my stuff now it's not even funny. Again, FWIW. You actual mileage may vary.

Actually, I think my B1 cost me $79.99 back in '02. The AT2020 I think is going for $99.00. Either way, great lil' budget condensers. Sorry for rambling.
