Smile Venue controlling Pro Tools

Let me say that first that I greatly appreciate all of the advice that I have found on the DUC.

Second let me apologize if I have missed the answer to the question that I need to ask.

I want to set up my shows to start and stop my recording to pro tools. I also want to be able to arm certain tracks at certain times (ie. pastors mic, or full band, so I am not wasting space in Pro Tools.

This may be elementary, but I just can not figure it out.

I have a Midi Sport 2x2, but I do not understand what to do on the Venue or in Pro Tools.

Any Help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Unfortunately track arming and Quick Punch are not part of the MMC spec that the Venue systems would use to control PT. To get Venue and PT to communicate you'll need to select in the Pro Tools menu Setup:Peripherals:Machine Control then select MIDI Machine Control Remote (Slave) and check the enable box. From there go check out the Venue manual for adding MIDI messages to snapshots, It's too long a process to go through each step here.

The HD3 connected to my Venue is located in a different room. I use a Frontier Design Group Tranzport

to control ProTools from FOH. The range of the Transport dongle that plugs into the G5 running ProTools is limited, so I use a USB extender to get it close enough for reliable operation.
