Default Pro Control Related - 6.4 crash

A client of mine has a duplicatable crash with his Pro Control now that we've gone to 6.4. Here's what he does:

Select the Inserts button on any track so that the main section's plug-in editing area shows all 5 inserts and whatever plug-ins there are assigned on that track.

Then push the select button to open a specific insert for editing of parameters.

No problem, right?

Now click a select button of an insert with nothing assigned. ( No Insert )

PC shows the message that you must assign a plug-in in order to edit parameters (paraphrased), but the system will lock with the spinning wheel of death.

Has anybody run into anything like this? We've been thru the usual stuff, but to no avail. It's not a HUGE thing, but it does seem rather buggy and it never did this on any previous version. Thanks.

I'm going to take my time installing a new mac and 6.4 in about 3 weeks time (early July). If nobody else has been able to check this in the meantime I will definately try this.

i have this exact problem, but i also get the message even when I click a select button with a plugin assigned. I reported this bug awhile ago to Digi and they had no idea. Nice to know it's not just me.

I went back to 6.3.2 because of it.

Shawn,

Have the same problem here. Have also reported it. Been dealing with it for about 2 wks ( can't live without Delay Compensation ) other than this, 6.4 has been rock solid!

For what it's worth, 6.4cs4 didn't fix the problem here. Anybody else try it?

Shawn,

We took another look at this today with 6.4cs4 and can not recreate it. Make sure the you have the 6.4cs4 version of the ProControl personality in your controllers folder. If this does not resolve things for you please clarify the steps needed to reproduce this.

Thanks,

Step 1: Show the inserts of any given track in the plug-in editing section of the PC.

Step 2: Select a plug-in to edit its parameters. No problem yet.

Step 3: Click the Inserts/Parameters button to get back to the inserts list.

Step 4: Hit the select button on an insert with nothing assigned. The message is displayed indicating that you can't edit a parameter that isn't there, right?

Step 5: Once the error message clears itself off the PC, click the select button of an insert with a plug-in assigned. It's likely going to act as though no plug-in is assigned and show the same message. Then PT will develop the wheel of death and the PC will go offline shortly thereafter.

These steps will almost always cause the crash (if not the first time, then after a couple of tries), but it has also happened even when you've never accidentally (or intentionally) hit the select for an insert with nothing assigned. It sometimes takes some light torture to get it to happen, but in version 6.2.3, no amount of torture can duplicate this problem. I hope that helps clarify.

My experience with 6.4 was identical to Shawn's. I almost tried the latest update but now I'll wait with 6.2.3. It's a bummer 'cause I really liked 6.4 otherwise.
