Default backups

Hi guys, I'm comming over from the mac side, thinking of getting a system on pc... What tape format and software are you guys using to backup to? On the mac side I have been using dds-3, exabyte and ait with retrospect, very stable but can't seem to find any post for what the pc guys are using?

Thanks!

there is on;y 1 good solid dependable tape transport for profesional backups...

DLT.

problem is it's expensive. But it will last 7 to 10 years without loss of data. It will transfer from transport to transport without alignment issues, and it's used by all the big guns in various industries....

cheers
georgia

Hi!
Wish I could help you with this, but I am personal use only, and currently use the "back to two DVD" method. Has worked well so far, and hopefully as technology advances, a more robust, fast, and accurate method will arise in the coming years.

ok so dlt it is, what software are you using with it??? now pushing my luck just a bit, if I were to use retrospect, would that be cross platform (if I backup on a pc, could I retrieve the data on a mac)??? Probably really pushing my luck!!!

Thanks!
