Pro Tools error regarding buffer size
Hi all,
I'm fairly new to this so please forgive my naivety and lack of knowledge. I recently purchased an Mbox 2 Mini along with Pro Tools LE 7.3 (which I updated to 7.3.1) to allow me to record some guitar. However, whenever I attempt to record or playback I get an error after random intervals of time stating that: "The operating system held off interupts for too long. If this occurs frequently, try increasing the "H/W Buffer Size" in the Playback Engine panel. (-6086)" I've gone through all of the trouble shooting and simply do not know how to fix this problem. I've tried every combination of buffer size to no avail. My computer has a 3.4Ghz processor with 1GB of RAM. I know that my system uses the Intel(R) 915 Express Chipset family and as far as i know this chipset is supported. I'm not really sure what other system information might be relevent to this problem. If anyone can assist me with this problem I would be most grateful. Thankyou in advance. |

The chipset is your main problem, but there are a number of other issues; using only using one physical hard drive, wireless network card, and a few other minor things. There are two possible solutions to your chipset problem: some people have had luck using a powered USB hub to plug the mbox into. The other solution would be to get a new computer that is compatible with Pro Tools. Once you get a solution to the chipset problem, you are still going to need a separate physical hard drive for your audio sessions, and you will need to disable the wireless when using Pro Tools.

Re: Pro Tools error regarding buffer size
Which second hard drive are you using? Seeing how you are using a laptop, I'm assuming you have an external firewire drive right?
