Default OT: How to record a telephone call?

I'm wondering if anybody on the DUC has a good way of recording a phone call with the 001. I've got a client wanting to record a radio spot simulating a phone conversation. The catch is it's really going to be a telephone conversation. One guy will be in the studio the other on the phone. If the 2nd party could be in the studio I would just record the script and apply a telephone EQ. However the guy is 300 mi. away and just wants to actually do his part on the phone. How would you go about this? Ideas are appreciated.

Shawn

buy a cheap phone, remove the earpiece, and connect the wires to a trs-plug and put that in the input of your digi001. That way you get a good quality recording. Probably too good to sound like a phone, so you'll gonna need some additional filtering (heavy compression and highpass eq at 200Hz, lowpass at 2000Hz.) Also be sure to be absolutely silent when the other side speaks. Phones work on 2 wires, so you will be on the same line....

I have an answering service that will let me record my phone call then I can send it to e-mail as a wav file. Maybe you have this option or I will take this opportunity to plug mine. Cuz I market it. It's pretty easy to get it started. E-mail me.

We do this a fair bit. You can get a little device for radio shack that connects to the reciever cord. It has a mini jack plug on it that you can patch into you Digi001.

The best way to do this is with what's called a phone bridge. It's a device that converts the call for you. Slightly expensive device for a one time deal, but if you plan to do a lot of this in the future, you should look into one.
