Default Dual Athlon 64?

Is there a motherboard that supports dual, lets say, athlon 64 3800+??? 939 sockets.
Also do you know the difference in performance between a 64 3800+ and a 64 4000+ ??

You must have money to burn!! I don't know of any dual processor mobos for AMD 64 but I do know that Protools does not recognize or use dual processors anyway. I expect marginal differences between a 3800 and a 4000 and I would save the money. Maybe it would help if you are using a ton of virtual instrument plugins.

Yeah seems like the 3800 is a better option. But I'd still like to know if there are any mobos that support dual 64 3800+. I use a ton of programs that would benefit from dual prossesors. Plus I'd have the option of using 99% of one prossesors just for PT.

Joz,
The two options that I know of are the dual Opteron systems and a possible hack using the Clawhammer processor on the dual Opteron boards. I haven't heard of any hacks yet as there were with the XP processors. Alot of people are using the dual Opteron systems with Nuendo with great results.

I thought of this as well, when i went to get my PC built i asked and he explained that a dual processor would end up being slower because it uses all diffrerent parts, he said you cant use athlon just some special brand.

Sorry I have a lot of questions but I'm not too familiar with the Opteron 64 bit prossesors. How do those the Opteron below compares to an Athlon 64 3800+ or an Intel 3.4mhz
And has anyone used them with PT?
And whats the difference with a Clawhammer and a regualr Athlon wich one is better? I've posted a Clawhammer that I've found as well in case I dare to hack the board or if I find out it works.

Model: AMD Opteron Model 250
Core: SledgeHammer
Operating Frequency: 2.4GHz
FSB: Integrated into chip
Cache: L1/64K+64K; L2/1024K
Voltage: 1.5V
Process: 0.13Micron
Socket: Socket 940

Thanks
Joz

I only saw one person try to get it running with PTLE with now success. Not sure if it was from the SP2 issue or from the chipset though. I think the Clawhammer would still outperform it with PTLE.
