Default Removing electrical buzz with Izotope RX

Hey there!

I have a few dialogue tracks that have the ever annoying electrical buzz.

Izotope RX is amazing, I'm just trying to figure out the best method to remove the buzz. Or, if there is another method to do it without RX

Anyone have experience doing this?

I'd love to get some suggestions on this.

Looking forward to hearing from everyone.

Hi,
It should be possible with any EQ Comb*-Type setting - that is a high Q slope and mutiple instances set to harmonic multiples with decreasing slew rate.

As humming is usually the 50/60Hz, manual removal should be good.
I am always using Uniquel-izer from RNDigital which has a harmonic filter build in.

best

My tool of choice for buzz removal is the Denoiser module from RX. If needed, it can be configured for reduction of tonal noises only (like buzz).

RX is absolutely amazing but I'm only just now trying it out to see how to get the best out of it. The tutorials are very good.

If you use the 1 band EQ and set up a notch filter and sweep across the frequencies you will probably be able to find the buzz and get rid of it.

Good luck
Paul

In Hum Removal module there's an "Output hum only" switch suitable for tuning to multiple harmonics simultaneously.

With Denoiser module, tuning is done automatically: when capturing the noise profile.

The only process that gave good results for me with an extremely strong electrical hum was oxford debuzz.
It allows to treat all the harmonics from 50 to 20kHz, with several options about the type of filtering.
RX is a very good program for many things, but in that case I couldn't get rid of the hum with only 8 harmonic suppression bands.

RX is amazing, I never could get the results I wanted using the Waves plug in's.
