Default Problems Getting Mbox 2 ProTools 8 to install on 64bit Win7

Here it goes, I have a Mbox 2 mini and I recently got a Win 7 64Bit computer, I have tried to install PT 8. I've gotten it to install but then it said there were clock issues. I unistalled it, reinstalled the program and now when it's loading it just freezes and gives BSOD. I have attached my Sandra Report. Hope this helps. If I did not give enough information, please feel free to kick me in the shins. Thanks in advanced.

Just plain PT8? 8.0.4 is the first version of Pro Tools supported on Windows 7.
Download the upgrade here.

That, I think, is your main problem. I would disconnect the hardware, uninstall Pro Tools and the drivers and restart. Then install PT8 again without hooking up your hardware, then install the 8.0.4 upgrade and hook up the hardware when prompted by the install. You will probably want to install 8.0.4cs2 after that as well.

Now for some issues about your computer that may be problems once you get it installed and running:

You're going to need a separate physical disk for your Pro Tools audio sessions, and it will need to meet the LE hard drive requirements.

You will need to disable that while using Pro Tools.

Thanks for the quick reply first and foremost!

I have a laptop with only USB and no FireWire connections. I imagine this could be a problem for hooking up a separate drive?

I had Win XP 7.4 working on 7200RPM machine and it worked flawless, i'd still be using that computer if it didn't burn out.

Also, i can't just update the hard drive to a 7200rpm one and that will solve the problem? I know I will need to according to the link you gave me.

Thanks!

Or could I just partition the Hard Drive?

Yeah; this would not really be a good choice of a computer replacement for using Pro Tools LE.

You may want to consider upgrading to Pro Tools 9. The audio drive requirements have changed for Pro Tools 9, and USB2.0 drives are now approved/supported/recommended for Windows laptops.

No. Recording to the system drive is not supported either. It needs to be a separate physical disk.
