Re: I Got Pro Tools 7.3 to recognize 2.7GB of memory- Here's how
No, but it should work the same. This program patches any .exe to 'large aware'.

Re: I Got Pro Tools 7.3 to recognize 2.7GB of memory- Here's how
Try it and see. Just make a back up of the .exe first. If it doesn't work, replace the .exe.

Re: I Got Pro Tools 7.3 to recognize 2.7GB of memory- Here's how
There may be one reason. It would put Mac and PC versions of LE on different footing, since Mac has no way to do a large access patch (AFAIK).

Yes, M-Powered sees more than 1.5GB of RAM if you patch it properly.

"It is called LaaTiDo utility!"
For what its worth, I installed this 3 days ago and my system has been running fine since (3 days of 6-8 hours and multiple sessions). Can't comment on a performance boost as I am not using lots of VI's. A couple of instances of ezdrummer and several instances of Drumagog.

Re: I Got Pro Tools 7.3 to recognize 2.7GB of memory- Here's how
They already are on a different footing.....Leopard is 64 bit from top to bottom and PT runs on it now. This is despite the fact that 64 bit Windows was introduced 2-3 years earlier. As I understand it OSX's memory managent model (which is slightly different then Windows) works like this.... 2GB for OSX and 2GB for each individual application/plug in. Theres not any need or reason to patch PT on Leopard. Patching XP is only making up for the current lack of 64 bit Windows support. I suspect that its this very reason that Digi has let this thread live.

Re: I Got Pro Tools 7.3 to recognize 2.7GB of memory- Here's how
Oh, good! I was already looking forward to the upgrade to Leopard and PTLE 8, but now I'm ecstatic! Until next year, I'll still be on a G5 with 10.4.9 and LE 7.3.

Re: I Got Pro Tools 7.3 to recognize 2.7GB of memory- Here's how
Here's a url http://www.anandtech.com/gadgets/sho...spx?i=3034&p=3 that explains this 3G switch and why Windows 32 bit is inherently set at a 2G per application/2G for other system uses limit. This link was actually early in this thread, but thought I'd bring it up again.
Read the entire article. It's about game usage and what happens to Windows systems when it becomes memory intensive. The article will give you good insight as to what this is all about. So this patch in this thread is setting the application limit at 3G. This leaves 1G for other system uses. Some of the earlier comments were that graphics suffered, or there were BSOD, etc. Understandably. But if you're experiencing problems with 3G, why not try and set it to, say, 2.5G instead? That'll leave the system with 1.5G, etc. Steve
