Default Drive not initializing

Hey, I've got 3 hard drives not initializing. See if you can help... I came onto this session with clients who are doing several albums at once. They have about 15 removable HD's they are working from. (GLYPH,Seagate) 4 of the drives stopped working. We got a -60 error message. We are using ATTO software 2.3.2, Protools 5.1, and have to different rigs going with GLYPH bays. I took the drives to a disk doctor and got a lot of the info recovered (90%). One drive was formatted and back in use, but other 3 are acting up. 2 of them have had a full low-level format, but when it comes to initializing, the drive stays busy forever. (should be instant). One drive won't format altogether, we get a -127 error. Anyone have suggestions? Are these puppies lost or what?

Default Re: Drive not initializing

A Mac OS -60 error comes from the list of Mac OS File System Errors meaning:
Bad master directory block

A Mac OS -127 error comes from the list of HFS Errors meaning:
Internal file system error

If ATTO is not even recognizing the drives, then there is a good chance that the drives are permanently damaged. If you can see them with ATTO, I feel a low level format is in order.

Brent

Brent, 2 of the drives successfully(?) made it thru the low-level format. They just won't initialize. The other one I think is just shot for real. Do you think there still could be a chance for the ones that formatted?
