[/QUOTE] The iso rack has a ac unit built in (vents on the bottom i think). it has two power units that are on there own circuit, with 1 hour battery back up and then generator back up after that (for the whole office). Its a 12U rack. Not sure the make. The order for the rack went though CSUC as did all our computer systems (servers, 8 G5, 5 G4 Emacs 5 G4 lap tops, and some windows systems) so I will have to call and find out who makes it and price. I would bet it was expensive, but its sweet! Ill take pics of the system and upload them if you wanna see. Kev

These new G5's throw off an enormous amount of heat. Don't assume that any of these iso boxes will be able to adequately remove the heat of all the equipment inside, unless the specs definitively prove it. All of these boxes are NOT created equal. The ambient temperature of your room will also be a factor. There are a LOT of people who have invested a lot of money in fancy ISO boxes only to find that the boxes can't keep up in removing the heat, so they keep them open most of the time, and only close them on occasion for a critical listen. If you do get a box, put a temperature probe on top, and don't let things get to hot. An ISO box (unless it has some sophisticated built-in air conditioning) is a poor solution to the problem, and should only be used if no other options are available. Lee Blaske |
