This whole thing is a PITA, believe me. You need at least Toast 5.01 for Toast to recognize the blank DVD-R. You need to be registered to get the update at
http://www.roxio.com/en/support/toast/toastupdates.html

And that's only for DVD-R - there are four or five competing rewritable DVD standards.

Can anyone else confirm that DVD-RAM will work like Disc burner, i.e. insert disc, "initialize" and then "burn disc" from the Apple special menu? If so, what extensions do you need?

click in the same place you see one of the following:

Mac OS Standar
Mac PC Disc
and so on
