Default riding automation

Hi,

I'm having some trouble riding automation on my plug-ins. Is this feature only good for volume automation? Can one ride another parameter in a plug-in with the fader?

Are you sure you are doing everything correctly? Double check here:

hi amagras,

What I meant is if I could use the volume fader as a leveler for automation instead of the wheels (knobs), lets say a compressor or a gate for the threshold. My question goes beyond that, in the future I'm planning to buy a motorized fader for riding, does it need knobs to ride other parameters beside volume control?

Thanks.

ICONs (D Command and D Control) have a CF (custom faders) plugin mode that allows you to put any parameter you like on a fader.

They are going prey cheap these days on the used market.

Most decent control surfaces will allow you to flip sends and plug-in parameters onto faders. Do it all the time on C24s and D-Commands/Controls. Pretty sure any Eucon surface will let you do the same. Dunno about HUI surfaces...

Any Digidesign / Avid / Eucon control surface will have the feature "flip to faders".

If you're in Pan mode, it will put the pan knobs on faders.

If you're in Sends mode, it will put the send knobs on faders.

If you're in Inserts mode, it will put the insert knobs on faders.

You'll most likely want to be in "Touch" automation mode.

The HUI protocol only allows Sends to be flipped to faders, which is a limitation of 3rd party control surfaces.

With the Slate Raven, you're interacting directly with the controls, as if your finger were the mouse - so that's a big bonus.
