cubase session convert to pt
HI there,
I have several cubase sessions that I need to convert to pro tools... Any ideas? Is there an export tracks as audio files command in cubase? An easy way to convert cubase sessions into omf without the cubase program? etc. thanks |

Re: cubase session convert to pt
Either way you do it you're going to need the actual application of Cubase. I would recommend staying away from OMF as it can be very glitchy. The most accurate and safest way is to export all of your audio (all from the same starting point) from Cubase (create stems) and then import them into PT. It doesn't even take that long because Cubase has offline exporting I think and it will save you a lot of potential headaches. Here is a link on how to export files from Cubase: http://digital.music.cornell.edu/cubaseexport

Re: cubase session convert to pt
on the link above, the instructions are for an audio mixdown. Typically I would expect it do do a mix down of the selected tracks to either a Stereo Track or a Mono Track.
So if I want to export 16 mono tracks with full processing and automation from Cubase, as 16 mono tracks (Unmixed) would I still use this.? IF I select Mono, does it output 16 mono tracks? |

Re: cubase session convert to pt
For 16 tracks, you'd do 16 passes of audio mixdown with each track soloed and you'd choose "Mono" in the "save mixdown as" dialog screen. Way more stable than OM****** between Cubase and PT, and the offline mixdown saves loads of time compared to PT. When can we have this feature in PT?

Quote:
Select all the audio you want to export with the 'range tool'. Say from Bar1 track1, to bar 100, track 16. Then hit bounce. It's exactly the protools consolidate function. Then look in your cubase 'audio' folder. The last 16 files will be the consolodated audio on each track. Just drag them into protools. Takes about 2 mins. xx

Re: cubase session convert to pt
SSL recently released an app called "Pro-Convert" which reportedly converts between PT7 and 40 other DAW formats.
