Issues with Virtual Instruments

Hi Guys,
So I am still fairly new to Pro Tools. I am having issues recording the virtual instruments on Pro Tools M-Powered 8. When I create an instrument track and play the vacuum for example I hear sound and the levels appear in the mix. When I start recording, I also hear the sound from the virtual instrument, yet when I playback it recorded nothing.

I am probably making a very basic error here but any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try bussing the output of the Virtual Instrument to an audio track- should do the trick : )

Sorry but how do you buss the output of the VI to an audio track? when I go and select outputs via the bus (reverb send/delay send) I get no sound at all. I feel like I'm on the edge of figuring it out. frustrating.
