bounce to disk and delay compensation
Hi,
When bouncing to disk, i'm getting a short silent portion added to the beginning of each track, equivalent to the plugin delay on the master channel, due to the use of a number of processor hungry plugins (if i remove all the plugins, bounce to disk behaves as expected). When mixing for a live album, this is far from ideal, as it puts short gaps between my tracks! What's the best solution for this, bounce the entire album and cut it up after? Or is there some setting i can change to avoid this? thanks phil |

Re: bounce to disk and delay compensation
Import the bounce, trim the region, and consolidate the remaining region (making a new file). Then export the new file from the Audio region window. If the session is at the same rate as the bounce, you will not have to worry about dithering or additional processing except for the interleaving of the stereo signal.

Re: bounce to disk and delay compensation
Ducky is on the mark. My method is a little different as I record and bounce at 24 bit. Then I open my mastering session and import the bounced 24 bit file. This is where I trim the head and tail, add a fadeout if needed, put some L2 on it and dither to 16 bit. The resulting bounce of that is an audio file ready for CD burning and it has no dead space(unless I put space in between cuts with my CD burning software).

But the L2 induces a delay as well....right!? ...and Whay should it be nessecary at all to import files in a new session, slice and dice them AGAIN, and bounce one MORE time...... Uarrrrghh.....Digidesign really f**ked up there! Bouncing the files will add a delay in the beginning, (equivalent to the plugin delay on Tracks AUX and master channel), AND chop the equivalent amount of time at the end!! So I see NO smart solution other than Digidesign pull their act together, and make a soulution for this! On HD systems, this can be avoided by turning on "delay-Compensation"...... why can't MIX and Digi 002/MBox users have that? Dooooh!
