I am having boatloads of issues with 8.0.3LE. Running on a MacBook Pro that was purchased with Snow Leopard, been running 8.0.1LE for a few months with minor issues; installed 8.0.3 today: garbled file names in the region list (nonsense characters - but when I mouse over the name it appears correctly in the floating box) "access violation" errors after trying to re-name newly created files; more than once I'm not allowed to save the session or even quit without saving, forcing a "force quit" solution. Trashed databases (but did not empty the trash); could probably send the log file if it seems useful.

Did you update or install fresh? Been through your plugs? I'll bet dollars to doughnuts it's one or the other...

snow leopard was the factory install with the computer.
PT has been installed through the usual version updates.
is there a list of pluggins that are known to be culprits?

This is what I get. Play back the audio and use the Zoom Tool -- spinning ball.... crash.

I wish there was a fix for this.

Well, I just mailed off a crash log to Digi - I was having both the alturaport violation on a fade file, and then with no session open, just the old 'access violation' after auditioning one file in the Workspace.

So, I deleted the (only) catalog in the Workspace, and rebuilt it. That didn't fix it, so I removed the volumes/database folders manually then with the app. That didn't fix it. Then I quitted out of PT and used the app to remove the preferences, DigiSetupOSX, everything. That *seems* to have fixed it. We'll see how long. I rebuilt the pref's and then quit out of PT and backed them up. (*fingers crossed*).

These Access Violations (or the evil, no-numbered, lower-case 'access violation's are a real drag!

EDIT -

The system is a Harpertown 2009 MacPro 2x2.8 / 10 GB RAM / 10.5.8 / 8.0.3 (no cs). Session with issue was on an internal SATA (Seagate). didn't matter if I moved the session to a Glyph drive or not.
