Default best way to deal with PDC in 6.4/001???

I have been searching around the duc and reading everything i can about delay compensation in PTLE. I am running 6.4 with an 001 and was wondering what is the best way to compensate for plugin delay?

for plugs, i mainly use the EQ III, Massey CT4/L2007, Altiverb, a few other random plugins.

should i just finish my mix, check the DLY reading on each channel that has a plugin, and then nudge it ahead however many samples it reads? should this be done earlier in the mixing stage? is there something else i should be doing instead?
