Default 11R System Success Stories

My "Catching Up..." thread gave me the info I needed to start my upgrade path...Thanks again all!
So now I need a new machine...this will be specific to my 11R and PT9.
Curious about any success you folks may be having to help me decide on a new machine.
I'm not comfortable building my own so I'm looking for a "Pro Audio" type machine tweaked more or less for our type of activities...open to either platform.
Does 11R have drivers for both 32 and 64 bit windows?
Thanks!
Chris

I run PT 8.0.5 effortlessly on a 2 year old macbook laptop, core 2 duo 2.4GHz with 4GB ram and Snow Leopard. The only issue I (and AFAIK everyone running PT+11R on Macs) have is I often need to reboot before PT will recognize the 11R driver. A bit annoying but not a deal breaker, I only wish Avid would fix the 11R driver and make it a bit better behaved.

I just upgraded to a dual xeon quadcore workstation running win7 pro 64 with no problems so far. I can turn 11R on and off all day long and have it locked to the clock on my Saffire 24 DSP Pro, no need to reboot for it to be recognized by anything.

To be honest I am kind of let down by the lack of drama so far.

I use a I7 and ASUS Sabertooth X58, 12GB Kingston Hyper X Ram, and Windows 7. Absolutely no problems here. I have also ran it on a similar machine with a Q6600 CPU and it ran perfect as well.

Specs in my sig. 2009 13 inch Macbook Pro.

I also do NOT have the "reboot to recognize the 11R driver" problem. Using PT, Ableton, Logic, Reaper, or even simple audio playback anywhere on the Mac, no loss of contact with the 11R.

Fireface 800 connected via Firewire, and the 11R through USB, all device are seen at all times. 11R GUI is also able to be called up in PT, even if the FF800 is main audio interface.

I know that I seem to be hijacking all of your threads, but I just wanted to make sure that if I was to upgrade to PT9 that I'd have to buy the iLok as well. I mean if the 11R worked as the dongle that'd be great. Probably wishful thinking though.

And speaking of which are there any real issues with the iLok stuff? And would it have to be the iLok 2 or could it be any version? I don't have a ton of plugins and stuff and I don't see how having the latest and greatest USB dongle would be any kind of advantage.

Teach me oh wise ones.

iLok is required, interfaces don't act as a dongle for PT9 since you can use just about any interface with it. Both iLok and iLok 2 will work as well.

I just upgraded to PT9. It was pretty painless actually. As mentioned you do have to get an Ilok, which was the biggest pain in the butt for me personally. I hate shelling out 50 bucks for something like that, but oh well. I built my own system (windows 7 64 bit) and PT9 runs like a champ on it. I was in Reaper for the past year (Even having PT 8 LE installed), but a buddy convinced me to make the switch to PT and I just decided to upgrade if I was going to make the switch. Im really liking Pro Tools 9!

Hey Random Dude.......I have a Saffire Pro Dsp 24 as well. Im curious, do you use your 11r with the usb still or do you have it connected to the Saffire with SPDIF? I literally just installed Pro Tools this past Friday and havent worked out all of the I/O's yet. I have the Saffire working properly but havent hooked up the 11 yet. Any info would be much appreciated brotha! Thanks!
