Default For Artist Mix and Pro tools owners

Hello

I recently started to work in Pro Tools 12 more and more after 10 years of working in Cubase. In Cubase my Artist Mix displayed the decibel value up to one hundredth of a decibel. For example I could have my fader at -11.24db. In Pro Tools however anything lower that 10db on the fader does not show the value after the decimal. So in Pro Tools i can have -9.50 but as soon as I go lower I only get -10,-11 so on. hundredth of a DB obviously is not that big a deal but half a decibel can make a lot of difference in how an instrument feels in the mix.

Do other Pro Tools users who use Artist Mix get this as well or is there something wrong with my settings in Pro Tools?

Since it works perfectly in Cubase I would expect it to definitely work in Pro Tools since both products are made by AVID.

Thanks!

I have the same. Never really bothered me to be honest, When I'm mixing things in I generally close my eyes and just listen. :)

I have to admit I never noticed this. I don't even look at the values on my artist mixes, I only glance at the scribble strip to see channel/parameter names.

This behavior doesn't prevent you from placing the fader in the precise location which makes the instrument feel right in the track. Mix with your ears and if you need to see the exact value in 10ths of a decibel check the ProTools window.

Hold the Command Key while moving the fader .. and btw: mine shows smaller than 1 db below -10 on the meters .. but it moves in larger increments if NOT holding the command key ..

Now, i do not have an artist mix (only an MC transport here) so if i am understanding this correctly this is ONLY happening with Artist mix .. does holding the Command Key help the Artist mix ??

Thank you all for the replies.

I will try holding the command key tomorrow and report back.
Obviously it doesn't prevent me from mixing accurately and mixing with my ears goes without saying. And looking at the Pro Tools screen is always an option.

I just found it curious that the behavior is different between Pro Tools and Cubase. (and actually shows more accurate in Cubase) Especially since AVID bought euphonix and now owns the controllers.

I tried holding down the command key and the artist mix still doesn't display decimals lower than 10db. Shame...especially since it displays everything in Cubase. (So the artist mix is capable of doing the task)

Since Avid owns the controllers I would expect it to work best in Pro Tools not competitor software...strange
