Default Via Nano Processor compatibility

Hi,
I'd like to buy a laptop with a Via Nano processor and windows xp (samsung nc20).
I know it's low powered (netbook) and might be slow but after reading of someone using an asus 1000he with PT8LE it gave me hope.

Does anyone have any experience with non-intel, non -amd processors?
could PT8LE not install at all based on processor only?

thanks
d

I'm not sure the VIA is fully x86 compatible. One of the NetBook processors is ARM based not x86 based. If the VIA is X86 based there is a chance PT will run if.

Let us know

According to this http://www.via.com.tw/en/products/processors/nano/
it is an x86 architecture.
If anyone has more to add feel free..hopefully it'll work then..
thanks

Well here is my 2 thoughts,

One it might work but the way I see it the Samsung NC20 is 499 at newegg and a MSI U100 is 300.
40% more for a 12 screen vs 10.2.

The VIA is a 6.5 nanometer process vs Intel Atom 4.5 nanometer process = more heat less battery life.

Intel Atom has hyper-threading.
Which PTLE supports Now.
And does see the Atom as a dual core CPU.

I Have a MSI Wind U100 2GB of RAM and get A Dverb count of 10 usable at stock speed overclocked from 1.6GHZ to 2.0GHZ I get 15 Dverbs.
This all to an external USB 2.0 Drive.
The VIA will likely get less No Hyper-Threading.
No overclock in the BIOs.
The overclock/underclock is a MSI feature from them.

So I guess I say the use of a netbook is good say a 300 + the MBox/ultra portable 2 channel recording system.
with limited editing.

remember no firewire.
for that buy a 13 Macbook Pro.

I forgot to mention that is Running Windows 7.
On My MSI.
With XP maybe 1 Dverb more but I'm not looking back at XP but to move on and Upward!
Of course with Bypass of ME 2 or know as Vista or referred to also as Monkey Boys Folly!

BTW you folks out there that may have Mac's love the fact that you will see a 20% to 30% gain in performance from Snow Leopard as of Build 10A411.....
So I have Heard at least.........

REALLY?
Thats funny mine runs fine On Windows 7 32 bit?

The only problem right now with Windows 7 is the 64 bit version and that is only the firewire drivers don't work.
This me and Sunburst 79 have tested extensively.
The USB works fine in Windows 7 32 or 64.
PTLE 7.4 or 8.0 Runs fine on my MSI I assure you as do the Digi Plugins.
All thought maybe I'm confused since I've only used since version 5.
And actually my first use of it was a program called Sound Designer back in 1989.
Not to mention the Beta work that I do for several companies.
And maybe if you were to look back thought my past posts over the last 7 years here you might find that I may have help design and configure quite a few of the PC's on this forum.
And if it wasn't by posting it might have been over Skype or phone.
But then again maybe I'm all wet.
And this Netbook I'm typing doesn't really work in PTLE even though everyone that has seen it seems to think it did just fine.
I guess what I'm asking is back up what you say with fact.
And most folks that have been around here for awhile that know me will let you know that what I do say has most always worked as I say it does.

HI, thanks for all your advice guys..
the reason why i want an NC20 is the screen size and i read reviews stating the processor actually performs better than intel atoms n270 (z-series is sluggish in comparison) and samsung offers great battery life.
I would only need to run a couple of tracks..maybe 4 and some effects..
it will be mainly used for recording ideas on holiday...
10 inch with 600pixels instead of 768 vertically seems really small to me...
