Not being condescending man. I love my DX editors.

I'm just stating a fact. Don't take it personally.

Poor Alan Meyerson, working from home... maybe someday he'll earn your Pro status. But shhhh... don't tell my clients that all that work we did from home during Covid wasn't Pro -- they'll demand a refund.

I work from home. For clients all over the world.

Don't we all now?

Relax man.

Works fine here for now. Video engine too. I'm on a M1 Mac Mini with Monterey. But still on only 4 cores.

The M1 only has 4 performance cores. The other four are tasked with doing background and slower operations. As noted in the new release notes:

Due to the innovative combination of Performance cores & High Efficiency cores in M1 machines, the Pro Tools Hardware Monitor will only display 4 CPUs as the majority of the processing needs to be accomplished in the Performance domain.

Theres a good further explanation here

I know. But maybe the other 4 cores could be used to help with the graphics and other pro tools auxiliary things in the background and only audio/video dsp and mixer could run on performance cores. Just thinking out loud...

That is exactly what it means. However it is irrelevant to show those cores on PT system usage window, as you have zero influence what happens there. Performance cores are for plugin processing, that is what you need to see.

I didn't take it as condescension. It's understandable that the power users are irked that they can't move to M1 yet. I'm just jumping up and down that I'll be able to replace my limping trashcan with the M1 Max laptop as soon as it arrives. Was afraid I'd be relegating it to email and Slack while Avid caught up.
