Default iTunes

I just purchased a 003 Rack and am having problems with iTunes. It plays with a big "jitter."

I use iTunes quite a bit to practice with in the studio. I understand there may be a hardware/software conflict with iTunes and or QuickTime.

I running XP on an Intel Core 2 duo and 2 gig or RAM. Don't think that is the problem.

I'm new to DAW, so any help or comments would be appreciated. Thanks!

I think it is a bug with iTunes but there is an easy workaround if you have on-board audio(my last 3 systems had it). I just run a mini plug cable that has a pair of quarter inch plugs on the other end (stock Hosa cable) into the Aux inputs and hit the Aux to Mon button for listening to non-protools sounds.

Yeah that's what I do too with my 002.
I don't use iTunes though (shudder), I'm using Foobar.

002 has RCA jacks on the back for and ALT SRC input, and a button on the front for ALT SRC to MON. And another button to send it to analog 7-8 so you can monitor it from within PT.
Great feature.

I had the same problem. It happened when I upgraded to Itunes 7. Try finding a copy of Itunes 6, or upgrade to Protools 7 and there should be no probs.

AFAIK, stev, upgrading to PT7 won't help - it's still a problem. I still have the installer for iTunes 4 if anyone wants it. It won't work with newer ipods but for managing a music collection it is fine - and a lot less of a hog than later versions. And it works fine with PT 6.x and 7.x.

fair enough. but when I was on PT6.9 only Itunes 6 would work....anytime I tried Itunes 7 I got the jittery playback. PT7 and Itunes 7 work fine for me.
