Default Locking Multiple Digidesign Icons

Hi guys,

I was wondering if anyone had any better idea on locking two Digidesign Icons (D Control) together for mixing purposes. Right now we are using LTC to get both machines rolling together. This works fine however, there is a bit of a delay for the slave machine to lock to the incoming LTC. When connected to a Doremi V1 machine and both Icons are set to "Machine Control," the reaction time was instantaneous and both Icons were rolling together in synch the very second the master hits play. I was under the impression you were able to just connect the 2 Icons together and one becomes master and the other a slave. Any help would be great.

Thanks

Also, just to make sure you're focusing on the correct thing, you're really locking 2 ProTools systems together that happen to have Icons attached to them. The Icons themselves don't "lock" to anything.

Good luck!

yes! meaning, "yes, you're right", or "Yes they do, they lock to 2 PTHD and XMON"?

In any case, have you found a solution for your problem yet?

best,

Hi there,
I completely understand a multiple-system setup for film dubbing. Again, though, it's not the Icons that are locked together, it's the Pro Tools systems themselves. The Icons are just reflecting the status of their corresponding Pro Tools systems. So when you speak of locking 2 Icons together, it may be a bit confusing to the vendors that you approach for a better solution. Just my 2¢.

So, how's the search coming?

You also might check out the Soundmaster ION System, especially if you're running film projection.

Good luck!

If you want to get ultra-technical, the official Digidesign definition of an "Icon System" includes the computer running Pro Tools (and XMON and -of course - among others also the worksurface...), so, by syncing the two computers, you'd technically still be syncing (parts of) two Icons .

5c worth, I guess .
