I know I might get blasted for this...i look forward to it. but, if anyone wants to be helpful and recommend a good inexpensive ssl mix stuido in NYC or Brooklyn I am in need and having a hard time finding the right combo gear/price.

thanks.

You heard wrong. It's one of the top places in NYC with lots of excellent gear.

AAR,
I was refering to the NYC studio scene being bad not Right Track. I've mixed a record there and love that place. It's just a bit outside my budget for what I am doing at the moment.

I am still looking for a place to mix this weekend and by the way my search is going you'd think I was in Alsaka.

Most SSL rooms that are inexpensive are usually not good(the reason they are so cheap).

Anyway here is a list of most of the NYC studios:

http://www.newyorkmusician.com/recordingstudios.html

The most "reasonaly priced" SSL place is:

http://www.planet2planetnyc.com/

A great SSL place is Tommy Uzzo's place:

If it doesn't necessarily have to be SSL, i like :

http://www.mcp-studios.com/

Both are not cheap, but are good places to work out of.

great studio
I though I heard that Unique closed it''s doors a little while ago.

Some of my favorites...

Sound on Sound
Sony Music
Hit Factory

less expensive...

Kampo
RPM
Chung King

I know tthat the studios are hurting pretty bad (I get a call once a week from a studio looking for bookings), so you can negotiate.

Good Luck - need a mixer? (give a shout)

I feel bad pitching my low budeget needs to some of these studios knowing that it's these low rates that are closing them down. But 99% of us are working for less. I thought I was on the end of the food chain, but the studios are really getting the worst of it...
