It Didn\'t But Now It Does..... CRASH
I have a G4 128mg ram (I Know It's Low)OS 9.0 with 001. I've recorded 16 tracks for 15 songs in a row without a single lock up. I installed D-Verb and now it locks up. I pulled it out, reinstalled 5.1. I even thought it was in sleep mode (Which it was but was only set there recently). Basically I can record upto 10 minutes with out a problem do tons of over dubs and screwing around. Then I can track one acoustic and WHAM! (Not the band) it locks up. I've cleared the 5.1 preference, DAE preferances, gotten rid of D-verb. If I let the computer sit long enough in a session, which really isn't that long, it locks up and I gotta reboot. Really sucked tracking today. Can anyone help me out. I have a killer guitar player just waiting to throw tracks in.

P.S. I have no burners, only using midi out/in of 001 to my DA-7. It all worked fine before. Hard drives are fairly full though, about 4 to 5 meg available in each. Speed disc'd regularly.

Re: It Didn\'t But Now It Does..... CRASH
do you really mean 9.0 exactly?
i think this problem is os related. i have seen this when: 1. the system is corrupted. reinstall from scratch. 2. someone installed AOL. reinstall system from scratch 3. hard drive problem. check discs consider updating to os9.1. i have found its really fast compared to 9.0.4. i have had 2 crashes since i updated to 9.1, one was completely my fault (i tried to fool premiere into using an obsolete plug- dont do that!) the other was when my isp went offline and IE5 crashed when quiting. a force quit was all that was neccesary. os9.1 is a free update from apple. i am almost sure it is one of these problems listed above, although it could be something else. try those and let me know |

Re: It Didn\'t But Now It Does..... CRASH
Coaster, actually it 9.0.4 and I do have 192mg ram. I talked to Digi and found out that the D-verb is coded wrong on the 5.1 disc but they do have a new download. I was able to test it with the 5.0.1 D-verb with a key the Digi guys gave me but still I crashed, reset Base Extentions, trashed Preferances, reinstalled all Protools. I'm waiting to unload my discs before I reinstall the OS system. I've also tested Protools on the System drive for about 1/2 hour before it locked up,with 24 channels running. Funny it lasted longer than my other Cheetah drive and that it actually ran 24 tracks with 4 D-verbs and a DDL.

Re: It Didn\'t But Now It Does..... CRASH
I meant 4-5 gig in each drive. Allocated more memory and still crashes.
Can anyone please give any info or insight? |
