Default Mixer recommendations??

can anyone recommend an inexpensive 16 channel mixer that they've found to use with their 001?? the least expensive one I've seen is a Behringer 16 channel for $299, which seems like a decent price. Buying the 001 pretty much broke the bank, so scraping together money for the extras is rough....
thanks

DO NOT buy a behringer mixer. PLEASE for the love of god get something that will work.

evry single behringer board i have ever been in contact with has spent more time at the factory service center than it has in use.

something is ALWAYS going wrong.

a mackie can be much more reliable, or an allen&heath.
they cost more at the begining, but not in the end.

Perhaps Coaster that is because you have been in contact with them. My Behringer has worked flawlessly since the day I bought it 2 years ago. And the mic pre's are good for a home set up. You can't beat them for the price.

COASTER IS RIGHT ON
I also had Behringer mixers (more than one)and thought they were good enough for HOME STUDIOS, but then I wanted better quality recording. So I bought the Mackie 1604 VLZ Pro and a Mackie 1202 VLZ Pro (sub mixer). The Mackie also holds its value in case you need to trade-in or sell, because you'll get sweet FA for the Behringer.

Hey a good mixer for less $$$$ than Mackie is the Alesis Studio 32.

I dont understand the bad rap that behringer has received. I bought a denoiser and for a time, it saved my life. I sold it.....
I bought a Yamaha o1v to replace a promix. I
absolutely love the promix for comtemporary
guitar casuals I perform, but I never "warmed
up to the 01v the same way, did not sound as fat, and with all the improvements! It coulda
been that mine was tweaked...The 01v would
have been fine in the studio though....

I bought a used Alesis (ecch!) studio 24.CHEAP! Thought I would make a couple of bucks on it, although it is not digital,
It is great with one adat, a perfect match.
I am imbarrassed to say that although I could
use a wide array of equipment, I use this
studio 24 quite often out of conveinience.

Sorry, I have had several Mackie mixers.
I just dont like them, I use them- I dont
like em'(sorry)
Buy a Panasonic da7 (best buck bang)
or...the new sony digital(sexual chocolate!)
Oh yea....it's 20 grand plus or minus....

but next year Ha! probably obsolete!!!!!!!!!!
and cheap............

hello kbahjat, if you're searching for a cheap, good (?) console maybe you can try out some soundtracs. (don't start with the jade, altough) i read some ads, and i think they're equally cheap with the behringer but in my opinion better sounding and much more reliable. i used a behringer mx8000 and was happy with it for one year, but then the problems began. (i won't bother you with them, but the main problems to me were bad constructions of the divers parts).
i've a special protools corner in my studio and i use it with an yamaha 01v, and i'm really pleased with this config. i can record 16 at one take (even 18 with some rewiring) and use the dynamic control of the yamaha etc. etc.
good luck, tantejo.

thanks for your tips. 3 negatives and one positive mean I'll avoid the Behringers for now.....I guess they cost less for a reason......

So when you use something like the 01v, can you run through its analog and digital inputs at the same time to get 16 channels simultaneous??

Are there latency problems when you use the analog and digital inputs at the same time??

thanks

Check out the Mackie 1642. Significantly cheaper than the 1604, but not too much different. 10 mic pre's instead of 16 (and how often do you have 16 mics going at once?).

For what it's worth, I had a Behringer 1604a, and it worked fine. No problems whatsoever.

To answer kbahjat's question. The o1v will have latency issues, as to becoming a big problem, well nothing too significant. The
Event EZ buss mixer does have promise for
at home enthusiasts. Digital connectivity, effect processing and control possibilities, and an excellent price.

I use a 12ch mixer for my live setup...
I've had it for almost 2 years with no problems. $169 at GC and if I spill my drink on it 2 bad... I can replace it!
