those damn system errors

Anyone know what type 1 and type 10 errors are in regards to when using Mac OS 9.0.4?

I'm mainly getting these while using Waves plugins.

Type 10 errors crash my computer and Type 1 errors just quit Protools.

My setup:

9600 w/ 400 mhz XLR8 G3 card.
384 MB of ram
dual IMS Micro Twin Turbo cards with the
extensions disabled.
Digi 001 with 5.0 software
Adaptec 2940UW
System drive for audio apps only is a 7200
RPM Barracuda
Dedicated drive for audio files and sessions
only is a 10,000 RPM IBM Ultrastar

something is very wrong with your system software. i speak from experience; i recently had my backup system go south while i was checking it. i got all kins of type 1,3, and 10 errors. like you said, 10 takes the machine down with it.

after trying everything in my arsenal of knowledge, i ended up creating a NEW sytem on another partition. works flawless now.

have you tried the 9.1 update? many folks have found it faster.

apple just updated the carbon lib and a few other things for it, and my system is better than ever. it just doesnt play MYST3:EXILE very well.
