Guitar rig 3 or pod?
I've been getting not so good recordings with my guitar rig 2. I'm wondering if i should get a pod, or guitar rig 3. I can either get the pod used for a 100, or buy guitar rig 3 form a friend for a somewhat closer price. I can't afford eleven, but i've heard great things. Any ideas?

Re: Guitar rig 3 or pod?
I think guitar rig 3 is great, however the sounds aren't so much different from guitar rig 2. You now get an extra amp or 2 and a few more FX and Mods, but if you don't like GR2 you probably won't like GR3.
I've never been a fan of PODs though, so I would go GR3. |

Re: Guitar rig 3 or pod?
You might also want to consider switching amp modelling plugins. After demoing GR and a few others, I ended up going with Amplitube 2 from IKMultimedia, and I'm very happy with it. I think it's better than GR on quite a few levels. I didn't like Amplitube 1 at all, but the 2 version is much improved.
You also might want to consider Digi's new Eleven. I've only tried the demo, but the amps in Eleven are extremely close to the real thing. You don't get any bells and whistles with Eleven though (no effects, etc) but for pure amp sounds, IMHO, it's very good.

Re: Guitar rig 3 or pod?
I've got Guitar Rig3, Amplitube2 and a Pod.
I actually use all three of them for different purposes and sounds. My favorite is Amplitube 2, especially for clean or crunch sounds. I often record the Pod and a DI parallel and apply GR3 or AT2 on the DI. I also use GR3 sometimes on other audio tracks, for example vocals, because you can make some pretty weird stuff with it! Hope that helps!

Re: Guitar rig 3 or pod?
Something to think about...you can pick up a Line6 gearbox silver for 99 bucks or gold for 149. This is a RTAS plugin that sounds pretty darn good and is easy to use. This is a major mark down on these.
Sample of me noodling with the silver(nothing to write home about but loads of fun!) http://mysite.verizon.net/rpfiorentino/gearbox.mp3 Just another option good luck! |
