And from a software development stand point should be "Unacceptable To Release". This is the Microsoft way....release sloppy unstable code and let the drones pay to Beta test it. This is not a flame to you personally. But the standard I have seen in my short time here at the DUC has been no standard.

Re: Workspace Unusable STILL
I think he means that sometimes it reads the tempo of a loop incorrectly.
This happens in Ableton Live as well. Sometimes a specific loop just doesn't translate very well. I've had a number of them behave like this. Whatever analyzing algo is used is not 100% correct 100% of the time in any of these programs. Sometimes you have to pull out the trusty old Recycle 2 and start slicing! |

Re: Workspace Unusable STILL
I can make a G5 tank by auditioning one file. It seems to really want to dive if there is a client in the room.
There is a memory leak or corrupted preference file or something that needs to be sorted out. Surely Digi isn't intending Workspace to be such a broken element to the workflow. Did that team/developer get let go or something?

Re: Workspace Unusable STILL
Yet another savvy trick we've learned to skirt around. I also do the backup pref's trick - and now we also do the auto-delete database folders on startup. Problem is, I can't school ten guys to do that trick. I can't expect them to remember that in the heat of a session at 2 am. They just call me. All of them use catalogs that we've meticulously set up in 7x. So it's natural for them to reach for the Workspace in 8, having no idea how easy it is to topple a whole machine. Eveb tho we don't use external third party converters, it's easily a 5 minute down time (and jokes about PT crashing taking the place of rewind times dont seem to even get a chuckle).
What's it gonna take ?

that's right. But only once in a while and it seems to be on only certain loops, as if it's something about the file rather than PT. |

Re: Workspace Unusable STILL
Count me in as another disgruntled user with the Workspace issue.
HD2 Accel on an Intel Mac Pro, PT 8 cs3, still crashes the whole system when trying to audition audio in the Workspace. Ridiculous. |

Do you get any relief from trying what was suggested above?
